This page is dedicated primarily to the spiritual beliefs of Native Americans and to those striving to remember and follow the old ways. Some of us may not be Indian by blood, but we have found that we are at least partially Indian by the call of our soul - their ways have called to something deep within our ancestral souls. Others of these pathways may be inspired by the old ways of the Native American. When it comes down to it, though, does it really matter if it's "official" or not, as long as it is a positive path of the spirit?
The Native American culture was not the culture I was raised in although I do have Native American ancestors, so my insights are based upon my own journey through life and not the result of any direct method or path of teaching so I do not pretend that they reflect "official" Native American spirituality, but like I said before - does it really matter?
Welcome! people are on spiritual journey since 01/10/98. This is a work in progress, as I myself am. It expands as my heart and soul (and knowledge and time) does. Latest Update 03/07/98.

Power animals are animal spirits that come to you and stay near you to help guide you on your journey of life. Your Totem Animal is the power animal that you are born with and it stays with you all your life. Some say you should not tell anyone else what your power animal or animals are and some say it doesn't matter. Here is some information I've found about them.

Some believe that our journey through this life and the spirit realm is actually a journey taken on a big spinning medicine wheel.

A Shaman is a "wise one" or teacher that has and uses knowledge of the earth spirits. They are also called Medicine Men. Shamanism is based upon the principle that there are other realms of existence other than our own. There are three (3) distinct realms - the Upper Realm, Middle Earth (us), and the Lower Realm. There are several levels on each realm, too. The Shaman travels to those other realms by means of a "journey" - taking one's spirit outside of the self and travelling with the spirit. The Upper Realm is the realm of the Spirit Guides (Angels, Masters, and other Spiritual Teachers). The Lower Realm is inhabited by animal spirits that also act as teachers. Residents of the upper can travel to the lower and vice versa when necessary.

I've always felt like I have at least one if not several (angels/guardian angels/spirit guides, etc.) watching over me because I always seem to get what I need (not necessarily what I want) and even the most terrible of circumstances in my life have turned out to be either for the best or a learning experience that I needed for personal growth.

These are those traditions I've found that say they as far as I can tell are specific to a particular tribe or nation. This means they were passed down by either family or tribe through the generations.
